"Jan Ewing and I have consistently overlooked one person at Face to Face films who is very important to their awesome productions: Philip Lauto. He is responsible for the interlude music - simple piano music which conveys a beautiful sense of emptiness and suffering. Exceedingly reminiscent of Chopin nocturnes, the original music gives every production a feeling of pensiveness and contemplation. The music plays the same role for these productions as a suitable frame does for a dramatic painting. The wrong frame will destroy the effect of a great painting, and the music interludes for these productions, most notably Rabbit Hole, complement and enhance these great works of art." - William Cataldi

About PhilipMusic has always been a major part in Philip's life but it wasn't until he was eight years old that he decided to start learning the flute and make music a true extension of himself. To this day Philip is an accomplished flautist who has studied under many major names of the flute world. It was during his years at St. Anthony's high school that Philip realized interpreting the messages on the flute would not be enough for him. He had to be able to write the messages himself. It was soon after that Philip was then able to attend Adelphi University and pursue his dream of becoming a composer. Philip believes that music is the universal language and wants to reach out to as many people as possible. It is this notion that led Philip to using his composition talents for film and multimedia and pursue his masters degree at New York University. These are the platforms that the general public encounter music most. Since it is difficult to bring the public to classical music he wants to bring the classical music to the public. Film and other media forms are the culmination of all the art forms and It allows Philip to bring others' artistic ideas to full fruition. To be a part of that process is both humbling and fulfilling.
Philip is also a member of the chamber group Trio Delphi. To find out more about Philip or for a full resume please contact him. Follow me on Instagram! |
